So here is our new son, Jeb. He was an abandoned baby, brought to the House of Moses by government officials on October 30 of 2009. They estimated his age at a little over one year, although Irene, the chief nurse there, told us it was only an estimate. She told us that "Baby Jacob" came in very malnourished, and it took some time and some devoted care to get him to the point where he is today. We are very thankful that God's provision brought him to the HOM, because they do such a wonderful job here with these orphans.
His name at HOM was Jacob. We have decided to change this name, while still keeping a piece of his history. Mandi asked nurse Irene if she had any nicknames for Jacob, since she talked of how she had a special connection to him in his early days at HOM. She replied that she called him "Jeb-Jeb". Thus we named him Jeb. His middle name comes from Genesis 32:28 where God changes Jacob's name to Israel "because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome". There is no doubt in our minds that Jeb Israel has overcome many things thus far, and God has directed us to him to be a part of His great plans (Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 139).
He will celebrate his 2nd birthday on September 21, 2010.
JOY! JOY! JOY!

ReplyDeleteWelcome to our family for Jeb Israel Lemmond. What size clothes does he wear so we can let friends know.
Wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteI just concluded my daily Bible study using "Encounter with God" by Scripture Union (Valley Forge, PA).The study has been in Genesis for almost 3 weeks. Today's reading (Monday, August 9)is Genesis 32:22-32. I quote verse 28:"He said,Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with man and have prevailed."
You all continue in our prayers. Jeb now joins the ranks reminding us that children are the living messages we send to a time we shall never see.
We are so excited for you and can't wait to meet him. The name is awesome--both super cute and so meaningful!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that he's older than Blake--I wasn't expecting that, but I am happy that they're close in age.
Many continued prayers that everything else goes smoothly and that you'll be home safe and soon!
This is so wonderful, and such a beautiful way to name him! Congratulations to all of you!
