We are almost done with the race, where's the finish line?

So today was pretty awesome. The other husband and I were able to pick-up the kids’ Zambian passports (see “pouty-faced photo”) today – that was a near record time for sure. We were then able to race to Lusaka Trust Hospital to meet the ladies & kids for the urine collection. This was better than expected for a variety of reasons. 1st we were able to not only get the urine test (although Jeb took 1.5 hours to pee), but to get the physical as well. 2nd the ease with which that all happened was most refreshing. Even better it was the only fee that was less than expected. So now we will be visiting the US embassy to get his US visa. We should be clear to leave the country on the 19th now for sure. Now all we need is 5 seats on a plane home (sooner than the 29th) – Jeb is a lap child in case you thought my math was off, and it has been frequently when it comes to Kwacha exchange.

In the meantime we have a wonderful little expedition planned for this weekend. We will leave Juls place at 5:30 AM tomorrow to catch a bus to Livingstone. There we will stay near the Zambezi River, which flows into Victoria Falls. Sunday AM we will bundle up with all of our clothes (b/c it gets cold here in the AM) and go on a half-day game drive/safari. Not sure exactly what animals are on the agenda, but we plan to post a few photos of Zeke wrestling with some hippos. Our Sunday afternoon will be spent at “mosi-oa-tunya” (“the smoke that thunders”), or Victoria Falls. They say you should rent the ponchos because “you will get soaked on this ride” & have plenty of camera space ready for the circular rainbows. We will then return to Lusaka on Monday. The kids are very excited for this excursion/diversion, and Mandi and I are looking forward to taking the family on a vacation of sorts.

  1. That is the CUTEST pouty face I've seen beyond the front of a closed candy store on allowance payday. (That also answers by question about which country's passport you were getting. So, I assume the US citizen stuff is done once back in the states?

Have a GREAT time this weekend, stay dry!?
