Zeke's 8th birthday was a blast...of cold water! We had dads vs. kids in a capture the flag game with plenty of water balloons and soakers. Zeke scored the winning point, allowing the kids to dump the ice bucket on the dads.
We followed that up with a day and a half of packing. Our living room was covered with whatever you need to fly to Zambia for a month. There is some sort of balance to keep between:
1. not having a clue what you need - is there good peanut butter in the stores, sheets on the beds and a host of other questions.
2. We can take up to 10 suitcases, plus carry ons.
3. How in the world will we carry all that baggage?
(I am not sure we have gotten close to that balance.)
Today we worked with the youth around the community doing some service work. We started it out with some sweet and powerful praise and worship. "Break my heart with what breaks yours." - wow what a lyric. I think at times I have my "heart broken" more by Rudy or Old Yeller than by God. Personally I am asking God to teach me about His passion for ALL of His people on this trip.
We topped that off with some more packing. And then of course we had to scrub the house from top-to-bottom, because women must leave their houses immaculately clean before going on vacation. Like some weird rush of energy to allow them to relax on vacation.
Dinner was really cool...we told the kids "their stories." We had a mom talk to us (at the Chik-Fil-A deal) about how they shared their adopted son's story to him from day one. We love the idea of not only sharing his story (and that our 3 will experience his story), but also of encouraging these 3. Each of them has some funny details, but also a host of things that can point them to their Creator.
Tomorrow we go to church in the AM. Then onto VA to see Gaba & Grandad and then the Gustavi.
