Why Zambia? (Mandi)

We have had numerous people ask us why we decided to adopt from Zambia. Why not America or China or Haiti? What was it that singled Zambia out as the place we decided to go?

Well we spent about 2 months researching different countries and praying that God would direct us. Sometimes we would see a country that sparked our interest, but would find out we did not make enough money or had too many children of our own. We have good friends who are adopting from a country that recently stopped all foreign adoptions, leaving them in a sad and frustrating limbo.

We knew that we wanted this adoption process to be an experience for our entire family to serve God. We wanted our kids to see first hand where this little guy came from. We wanted to include them in serving at the orphanage. We wanted them to be exposed to a culture much different then their own. Zambia seemed to be a fit for all of that to take place.

We also know that there is potential for corruption in adoption. However, Zambia's regulations coupled with the reputation of our adoption agency reassured us of our vision: to adopt a child that truly needs a family.
